Today's update was supposed to be coming from inside Yosemite National Park after an afternoon of amazing scenery. Instead we are in between Jamestown and Sonora and it feels a tad red necky here. The park is closed so we've checked into a hotel about 1.5 hours outside of the park. We're not going to be able to see the sights we had planned to, but hopefully we'll be allowed to drive through the park on highway 120 (Tioga Pass). This was our planned route out of the park for tomorrow. Through traffic is apparently being allowed through still with no stopping permitted (not sure how they will enforce that).

We left San Francisco at about 10.00. We arrived at Sonora at about 13.30 which was too early to check in. We had a look round Jamestown which was the first town to boom when gold was struck in the 1800s. I think. Anyway the town doesn't looked to have evolved all that much since then. Back at the hotel we were able to check in and get into the coldest swimming pool of all time. Jess didn't make it in and I didn't put my head underwater.

We had dinner at the hottest place in town. Well, the best rated restaurant on TripAdvisor.
We're back at the hotel where I'm writing the saddest blog update of the holiday so far. Hopefully things pick back up again tomorrow. We're having a great time, we just feel a bit disappointed to have missed out in Yosemite which we were both really looking forward to.

ReplyDeleteGlad to hear your not letting it ruin anything for you both, hope you get to see a little of Yosemite on the way out and like you say how are they going to police the whole road making sure no-one stops? be a rebel, I dare you to stop and take a picture!!! :-) things can only get better xx
